OZTek presents

The 2018 Nikon Dive Portfolio of the Year

We were very excited to introduce the inaugural 2017 Nikon Dive Portfolio of the Year, and are now thrilled to announce a second 2018 Nikon Dive Portfolio of the Year competition with registrations opening on December 1st, 2017

We all learned valuable lessons and, as such, the 2018 Nikon Dive Portfolio of the Year terms and conditions have been adjusted, please take the time to read them.

A few entrants got caught out with the cropping rule - please check those carefully before entering to avoid disappointment. In 2018, we are requesting only six images, those you feel reflect a variety of techniques and subjects.
Remember the portfolio needs to reflect a minimum of three (3) out of the five (5) underwater photographic categories which make up the OZTek underwater photographic competition categories.

Another important change is that the competition is open all Australian and New Zealand photographers, as we celebrate Australasian underwater imagery and talent.

For details of upcoming competition, please click here

Note: The bi-annual OZTek2019 Underwater Photographic Competition will continue as normal and will be announced in November 2018 in time for OZTek2019 in March 16/17 at the International Convention Centre Sydney.

OZTek Underwater Photographic Categories:

Portfolio entries must represent a minimum of three out of the following five categories:

Wreck - An image taken that includes an image of a wreck, or part thereof, with or without a diver

Cave - An image taken showing the inside of a cave or cavern, with or without a diver

Marine Images with Diver - An underwater image featuring marine life with a diver in the image. Marine life does not include plants.

Marine life - An image featuring marine life. Must not include diver in the image.

Macro or Super Macro Marine Life - Subjects requiring the use of a macro lens or macro setting to capture the image

2018 Nikon Dive Portfolio of the Year

Competition entrants can enter up to six images from three (3) out of five (5) of the existing competition categories.

Our competition judges will be looking for the following criteria when choosing the Nikon Portfolio of the Year:

‘The portfolio needs to demonstrate clarity of vision and artistic intent to produce an inspirational body of work from three out of the five standard OZTek Underwater Photography Competition categories. Portfolio images should show breadth of skill with different underwater photography styles (e.g. wide angle, macro etc.), lighting techniques and subject matter while illustrating the passion, dedication and expertise needed to create a consistent collection of captivating images’.
